State Open Championship Tournament
New Lane Maintenance Procedures Announced

The ISUSBCBA has announced the creation of specific lane maintenance procedures for the 2010 Open Championship Tournament to be conducted in Evansville .

The Indiana State USBC BA is proud to also announce that these specifications follow the USBC approved lane dressing program. The program has three (3) categories named Red, White, and Blue.

The new specs to be followed by the ISUSBC BA will produce a “White” Category. Each center across the United States has different lane surfaces and different types of lane dressing equipment.

The ISUSBCBA has tested and partnered with USBC National in establishing separate machine dressing patterns and lane dressing machine settings for the various lane surfaces between the two centers in Evansville . This will insure that everyone has the same competitive chance. To insure this, the ISUSBCBA and the Center Management has agreed, to redress the competition lanes prior to each squad of the tournament.

Anyone can request these lane dressing machine program settings for the ISUSBCBA 2010 Open Tournament by contacting the ISUSBCBA Communications Manager.

The results of the ISUSBCBA Open Championship Tournament under these new conditions will be communicated back to USBC National as a test site for the new patterns.

Indiana State USBC BA Board Clarifies Merger Statement

The IS USBC BA Transition Committee has been diligently assessing the pros and cons of a potential merger. This committee has been working their way through a comprehensive list of concerns. Some of these concerns have been eliminated while several remain on the list. The committee concluded that it is possible for one organization to successfully execute the combined existing set of services with a board no larger than our existing board. However, one major area of concern has risen to the top of the list – that being “Governance”. The committee is currently assessing whether it is possible to address this area of concern. The transition committee believes that the new organization must follow the industry-accepted governance model used by companies and non-profit organizations including the USBC. This governance model is called the Carver Model. Great reference material and information on the Carver Model of Governance can be found on the internet. Until this governance model can be embraced by all merging entities, the committee and Board of Directors feel a merger would not be successful for the state organizations or be beneficial to the Indiana State bowlers.

Once the IS USBC BA Board has determined what it would take to address this area of concern, then the committee will be ready to meet with the WBA Transition Committee to discuss the entire list of concerns and explain what must be in place before the IS USBC BA will consider a merger.

This information was shared with the IS USBC BA Board of Directors during their June 26th Board meeting in Indianapolis and this statement was met with their approval.

Should anyone have questions or would like to discuss, please feel free to contact anyone from the transition committee.

Respectfully,
IS USBC BA Transition Committee
